Resumen:
Knowing IgA importance at the mucosal level as well as the significance of intestinal IgE response in a Trichinella spiralis infection, the aim of the present work was to study the kinetics of the early intestinal immune response in trichinellosis. Methods: Peyer Patches (PP) and Mesenteric Lymph Nodes (MLN) cell suspensions from Wistar rats infected with T. spiralis and controls were obtained at days 1, 2, 4 and 6 post-infection (pi). Their cell surface (s) IgE and IgA phenotypes were characterized by indirect immunofluorescence. The percentage of fluorescent cells was calculated counting 1000 cells under an epiilumination microscope and images were acquired with a confocal microscope. Total and specific IgE and IgA from intestinal fluid were determined by ELISA. Results: 1) X±SD of the percentage of sIgE+ and sIgA+ cells from PP and MLN Rats Peyer Patches Mesenteric Lymph Nodes % sIgA+ cells % sIgE+ cells % sIgA+ cells % sIgE+ cells Day 1 pi 40.4±1.8 28.3±0.2a 38.7±2.1 16.2±4.2f Day 2 pi 33.0±2.6 37.3±1.9b 31.0±6.9 36.7±4.0g Day 4 pi 40.0±2.0 29.4±4.3c 35.3±4.1 22.0±6.6h Day 6 pi 35.1±1.9 28.0±2.2d 34.5±1.9 22.5±5.0i Control 42.0±0.8 19.0±3.3e 36.8±0.3 15.9±2.9j     n=4; p<0.01: b vs e, b vs a, f vs g, g vs j; p<0.02: a vs e; p<0.05: c vs e, d vs e; g vs h. Student`s t test. 2)-The study of total and specific immunoglobulins anti-parasite in intestinal fluid showed that a- total and specific IgE were not detectable at the days studied; b- total IgA levels did not differ between infected and control rats, however specific IgA was detected from day 2 to 6 pi. Conclusion: 1-sIgE+ cells appear early in PP after T. spiralis infection and then migrate to MLN since at day 2 pi the percentage of sIgE+ cells increases and is similar to sIgA+ cells. 2-Though sIgA+ cell percentage in PP and MLN do not increase at days studied, only specific IgA is found in intestinal fluid from day 2 pi.
