Resumen:
Dichloromethane extracts of medicinal species of the genus Eupatorium were screened for antiprotozoal activity against Trypanosoma cruzi epimastigotes. E. hecathanthum dichlorometane extract was one ofthe most active.            E. hecathantum (D.C) Bak. is a nativemedicinal species that grows in Bolivia, South Brasil and North up to Center of Argentina. Pilaga originary communities fromArgentina use this plant as antitussive and for gastrointestinal pain (Filipov, 1994). Toba communities employ it for tooh pain, diarrhea (Vuoto, 1981), for  parasitism treatment and skin dissorders like gangrene andulceration (Martínez et al., 2010).              The objective of this work was thecharacterization and the identificationof the compoundsresponsible for the tripanocidal activity of the E. hecathantum dichloromethaneextract.
