Resumen:
Triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) is defined by a lack of expression of estrogen (ER) and progesterone (PgR) receptors as well as HER2/neu. The lack of targeted therapies and the poor prognosis of TNBC patients have fostered a major effort to develop new alternative treatments. Thiosemicarbazones are synthetic compounds that exhibit several pharmacological activities. Previously, we found that T2, a N4-aryl substituted thiosemicarbazone, had cytotoxic activity on 4T1 mouse mammary tumor cells. Now, we have investigated the action of T2 on metastasic properties of 4T1 cells. Our results show that T2 inhibits metastasis of 4T1 cells, and this inhibition could be due in part to a to an up-regulation of NDRG-1 expression and to a downregulation of cell migration capacity, MMP-9 activity and CSC sub-population.
