Resumen:
Theinterest in the development of biopolymer-based materials is drivenby the properties typically present in these polymers, such asbiocompatibility, biodegradability and sometimes low cost, which leadto sustainability of the production process and high acceptability byproducers, consumers regulatory authorities. Keratin-based hydrogelsare also endowed with these properties and have been studied for along time. Nevertheless, they are typically obtained byreduction/extraction methods which need an improvement regardingyield and environmental friendliness. With the aim to overcome theseshortcomings, a greener method was developed. This method leads to apH-responsive material that is shrunk at pH < 6 and swelled abovethis pH. The applicability of the keratin hydrogels was tested byobtaining nanocomposites which can be used for emerging contaminantswater remediation and the obtaining antimicrobial wound dressings.p { margin-bottom: 0.25cm; line-height: 115%; }a.cjk:link { }a.ctl:link { }
