Hair loss(alopecia) is caused by several diseases, drug intake, hormoneimbalance, stress, and infections (Malassesia furfur) .Drugs usually used in alopecia produce irreversible systemicand local side effects. An association of extracts of Coffeaarabica and Larrea divaricata (ECOHAIR ® ) is successfully beingcommercialized in Argentina for hair growth. The aim ofthis study was to provide scientific support for the efficacyand innocuousness of ECOHAIR ® in patients with noncicatricialalopecia during a 3-month treatment. Methods: Theefficacy was determined through the assessment of an increasein hair volume, improvement in hair looks, growth ofnew hair, and a decrease in hair loss by the test of hair countand hair traction. The capacity to decrease the amount ofdandruff was also evaluated as well as the adverse local effectscaused by the treatment. Results: ECOHAIR ® spray improvedthe overall hair volume and appearance; it increasedits thickness, induced hair growth, and decreased hair loss.Besides, no adverse local reactions were observed upontreatment with the product. Conclusion: This study providesscientific support for the clinical use of ECOHAIR ® as atreatment to be used in noncicatricial alopecia.
