Resumen:
The present research aimed to study the relationships of different factors of motivation with teacher satisfaction in university professors of different fields, in the public and private areas of the city of Buenos Aires. A non-probabilistic sample was used, of 214 professors from private and public universities. The scale of motivation developed by Marston (2010) was translated into Spanish. The exploratory factor analysis allowed identifying a structure of five motivational factors, whose reliability analysis as internal consistency was acceptable. The descriptive results indicate that most teachers expect to continue their teaching work and in the case of those teachers who hope not to do so, they hope to continue with their basic profession. Most teachers express their desire to continue working with young people. No high levels of satisfaction were found regarding to class preparation time. On the other hand, significant, positive and moderate correlations were found between all variables of motivation and satisfaction. Regarding the total length of teaching, differences were found in the factor "Creativity and flexibility" in favor of teachers with the highest total teaching time. Regarding the different disciplines, significant differences were found in the factor "Relationship with youth and the community" in favor of Economic and Exact Sciences. Statistically significant differences were found in the factors "Opportunity for professional development" and "Creativity and flexibility" in favor of the higher age groups. There were also significant relationships between the mentioned variable and teacher satisfaction: older teachers find less satisfaction in the task they perform.
