Resumen:
This research aim was to analyse subtle and blatant prejudice toward indigenous people in Argentina and their relationship with right wing authoritarianism and social dominance orientation. The study was conducted with a sample of 249 adults (aged from 18 to 49 years) from Buenos Aires, selected by a non-probabilistic incidental method. Participants were asked to fill a self-administered questionnaire including an Argentinean version of the subtle and blatant prejudice toward indigenous people scale, right wing authoritarianism and social dominance orientation scales. All the scales used follow a five point Likert-type rating scale. The results show adequate psychometrics properties for the subtle and blatant prejudice scale. Moreover, significant positive correlations were found between both subtle and blatant prejudice toward indigenous people, with right wing authoritarianism and social dominance orientation (.22< r < .40; p < .01). These findings pointed out that, despite the legal developments for the social inclusion of indigenous people in Argentina, prejudice is still a problem that needs to be solved in order to improve intergroup relations between minority and majority groups.
