Resumen:
The high prevalence and impact of mental disorders reveals the need for evidence-based psychological treatments (EBPT) that could reach all people who may need them. For the last years, Information and Communication technologies, such as the use of Internet, have proven to be a useful tool to apply cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). Reviews on computerized CBT (CCBT) show that they are effective for the treatment of depression and anxiety. Nevertheless, there is no CCBT program specifically designed for the treatment of Adjustment Disorders (AD). Given the high prevalence and the health and economic costs of this mental disorder, as well as the high percentage of patients who do not receive the suitable treatment, our research group has developed Adjustment Disorders Online (TAO) program. TAO is a self-applied online treatment program and consists on the improved, optimized and computerized version of the traditional CBT protocol for AD developed by Botella, Baños and Guillén (2008), which has already proved its efficacy. The program includes 2 protocols: (1) the assessment protocol consists of 9 questionnaires, all of them with good psychometric properties, which provide information on primary and secondary outcomes measures as well as on expectations and satisfaction ; (2) the treatment protocol comprises different therapeutic components which are presented to the patients through 7 modules (one of them introductory): psychoeducation, techniques to manage negative emotions, exposure, problem solving technique, acceptance and elaboration of the stressful event and relapse prevention. Additionally, the treatment also includes positive psychology strategies for increasing participants? resilience. The aim of the present work is to describe TAO program and present preliminary data about its usability and acceptability among patients and clinicians. With an online program like TAO we expect to make progress in the knowledge of AD, as well as in the dissemination of EBPT.
