Relation between Spirituality and Religions with Prosocial Behavior Toward Different Targets: Stranger, Friend and Family

The present study examines whether spirituality and religion are associated with prosocial behavior toward different target stranger, friend and family. One hundred Argentinean emergent adults and adults (M age= 35.07; SD = 17.05; 42 males 42%) participated in this study by completing VIA Subscale spirituality (Peterson and Seligman, 2004), Perception of the Cognitive, Social, and Emotional Aspects of Religious Attendance (Van Cappellen, et al., 2014), and Prosocial Behavior (Padilla-Walker & Christensen, 2011). We carried out three Block lineal regressions to test our objectives. The results have shown that both spirituality and religions (Perception of the Cognitive, Social, and Emotional Aspects of Religious Attendance) are associated in a positive way with prosocial behavior toward different targets.
