Resumen:
Parental behaviors vary around the world according to parents? socioeconomic environments, and according to their cultural models of parenting (LeVine et al., 1994). The main aim of this study was to explore cross-cultural differences and similarities in how adolescents expect their parents to react to different behaviors in Spanish and Argentinean samples. The sample included 440 Argentinean adolescents (age M = 16.38, SD = 1.26) and 629 Spanish adolescents (age M = 16.3, SD = 1.01) of both sexes and of low income. The measure was based on Scale Expected Parental Reactions by Wyatt and Carlo (2002). Adolescents rated items as to how appropriately or inappropriately they anticipated their parents would react to prosocial and antisocial behaviors. To test our objective regarding Expected parental reactions variation across the countries, we conducted two -2 (countries: Argentina vs. Spain) x 2 (Sex: Male vs. Female)- Factorials ANOVA. The results show statistically significant differences that will be discussed in the presentation.
