Resumen:
The characteristics of early interactions are fundamentalduring the first three years of the child, as these earlyexperiences may affect child´s growth, development andbehavior. High-risk infants have a high-risk of sequelae, especially those with a history of premature birth, low birthweight, neonatal pathologies and important psychosocialproblems. This pilot study aimed to determine whetherthe mother-child interactions during the first 12 months ofcorrected age affect the development achieved by high-riskinfants. Interactions in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unitwere observed using an Observational Scale (N-EOVINC)and the Scale of observation of mother-child bondwas used for observations at the follow-up Office. Weobserved 36 dyads during the children first 12 months ofcorrected age. The results show that the highest percentageof infants with difficulties in development belonged tothe ?Mismatch? Type of mother-infant bond. Our tentativefindings suggest a relation between mother?infant type ofbond and child development. Our study represents a firstattempt to explore the different ways of bonding betweenmothers and their high-risk infant, and the incidence thesemay have on the psychomotor and cognitive developmentof infants.
