Resumen:
It is well known the application of enzymes as biocatalysts as a green alternative to traditional organic synthesis. Their broad susbstrate specificity make them very useful in the synthesis of fine chemicals, particulartly pharmaceuticals.This biotechnological methodology allows the execution of reactions in milder conditions, eliminating unwanted side reactions and maintaining the environmental impact at a minimum level. These advantages are even more relevant if we consider that the products obtained will greatly affect human life directly through the use of pharmaceuticals or biomaterials useful in Biomedicine. The results obtained by the application of lipases in the synthesis of various compounds with pharmacological activity will be presented. Among them, derivatives of: terpenes, steroids (estradiol, drospirenone, dehydroepiandrosterone, glucocorticoids, corticoids, bile acids, etc.) endocannabinoids, heterocycles, etc. will be discussed.
