Resumen:
Our aim is to validate the solanesyl diphosphate synthase (SPPS) as a new target for trypanosomatids. The Trypanosoma brucei mithocondrial enzyme (Lai 2012) is essential as demonstrated by RNAi experiments (Lai 2014): Identical metabolic effects were obtained bu inhibiting the bloodstream forms with 1-[(n-oct-1-ylamino)ethyl]-1,1-bisphosphonic acid, a bisphosphonate originally developed against the T. cruzi homologue enzyme (Ferella 2006, Szajnman 2008).
