Resumen:
The new polyoxygenated marine steroids punicinol A-E (1-5) were isolated from the gorgonian Leptogorgia punicea and characterized by spectroscopic methods (IR, MS, 1H, 13C and 2-D NMR). All the tested compounds induced cytotoxic effects, however, compounds 1 and 2 exhibited best results to the cytotoxicity against A549 cells, with an IC50 value of 9.7 μM and 9,6 μM respectively. The synergistic effects with paclitaxel, effects on cell cycle and clonogenic assay of the compounds 1 and 2 were also evaluated. These compounds demonstrated important synergistic effects with paclitaxel, which is a drug already applied in clinical oncology for the treatment of different types of tumors.
