Resumen:
Long term memory model of the crab Neohelice granulata has been extensively studied from different points of view (e.g. behavioural, pharmacological, molecular and electophysiological). It typically consists of 15 trial-trainings with a 3 min intertrial interval. Here we study a long term memory induced by two-trial trainings with an intertrial interval of 45 min. This type of procedures have been described and characterized recently in the mollusk Aplysia, and represents an attractive model for studying the relation of the individual training trial and the intertrial interval with the activation of putative molecular pathways involved in memory formation. Here, we characterize some of the parametric properties of this memory (e.g. protein synthesis dependence or context-specificity) and compare the results with those obtained from the paradigms previously used in our lab. We also aim to study the participation of the ERK/MAPK pathway. It has been proposed that the first trial induces a specific molecular context mediated by the activation of the ERK/MAPK pathway, which enables the formation of a long term memory only when the intertribal interval is 45 min, entailing a narrow temporal window. Here we will present preliminary results and working proposals.
