The Link between metformin and the proliferator-activated receptor gamma pathway in the uterine tissue of hyperandrogenized prepubertal mice

Resumen:
Chronic hyperandrogenism alters the peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma (PPARã) pathway in uterine tissue from prepubertal mice. The gene and protein expression of PPARã is not modified whereas the gene and protein expression of 12 lipoxygenase (12-LOX), an enzyme that synthesizes PPARã ligands is decreased. The anti-hyperglycemic drug metformin is able to prevent this adverse effect.
