Resumen:
AWSoM is a MHD model within the Space Weather Modelling Framework using the BATS-R-US numerical scheme. It extends from the upper chromosphere into the solar corona up to the inner heliosphere and beyond. AWSoM addresses the acceleration and heating of the solar corona via the interaction between counter- propagating low frequency Alfven waves. This non-linear interaction results in a turbulent energy cascade. The model uses physics-based partitioning of wave-dissipated heat between isotropic electron and anisotropic proton temperatures. We use different input magnetograms -GONG and Air Force Data Assimilative Photospheric (ADAPT) maps. We compare AWSoM simulation results for solar minimum conditions with a comprehensive suite of observations from the low corona to 1 AU.
