Resumen:
Chandra images of Tycho's supernova remnant in the 4-6 keV band show geometrically-thin, limb-brightened rims of non-thermal X-ray emission, and demarcate locations of cosmic ray acceleration. Here we present new, previously unseen, low surface brightness non-thermal features apparent in a deep 750 ks Cycle 10 Chandra pointing. The new image reveals a more complex geometry for the X-ray synchrotron emission, consisting of an ordered and nearly periodic "striping" in several regions projected across the remnant. The angular sizes of the stripes vary, but are typically 5" by 20", with flux contrasts of up to an order of magnitude, and repeat for several cycles. These features may provide further insight into the processes which accelerate particles to relativistic energies and amplify the magnetic field. In addition, the clean geometry of Tycho's forward shock enables straightforward comparison with earlier epoch Chandra observations, and will yield constraints on the shock velocity and variability in the limb.
