The X-ray spectrum of the rim of non-thermal shells is the most informative in order to investigate the cosmic ray acceleration processes and how they modify the structure of the shock itself. In general, the emission is due to a mixture of the non-thermal contribution from the accelerated particles and the thermal contribution due to shock-heated interestellar medium plasma. In this work, we present preliminary results on the analysis of 30 narrow regions covering the outer shock rim of the shell of SN1006, selected in the XMM-Newton archive observations of this remnant, which will complement previous studies on the non-thermal component with information on the thermal emission. We also discuss which constraints can be put on the level of electron-ion equipartition and on the electron injection efficiency with this kind of analysis.
