Resumen:
The aim of this work is to present an overview of the state of art of the stopping power of ions inmatter, based on new developments in the stopping power database of the International AtomicEnergy Agency (IAEA) [1]. This exhaustive collection of experimental data, graphs, programsand comparisons, is the legacy of Helmut Paul ([1, 2] and references therein) who made itaccessible to the global scientific community, and has been extensively employed in theoreticaland experimental research during the last 20 years. The field of stopping powers in matter isevolving [3, 4, 5, 6, 7] with new trends in materials of interest, including oxides, polymers, andbiological targets. Our goal is to identify areas of interest and emerging data needs to meet therequirements of a continuously developing user community.
