Resumen:
Teleparallelgravity, a gauge theory for the translation group, turns up to befully equivalent to general relativity. Due to this equivalence, itprovides a whole new insight into gravitation. It breaks severalparadigms related to the geometric approach of general relativity, and introduces new concepts in the description of the gravitationalinteraction. The action that describes this theory depends on thetorsion scalar T, which differs from the Ricci scalar by a surfaceterm. This scalar is made up of the Weitzenböck connection, whichdepends only in the only dynamical field in the theory: the tetradfield. In this work we will review the Hamiltonian formalism of thetheory from two different approaches, and we will also present anextension of this theory: modified teleparallel gravity (known asf(T) gravity), and its main accomplishments.
