Resumen:
The presence of partially occupied surface electronic states (SESs) [1] produces noticeable signatures in double differential - energy- and angle- resolved - electron emission probabilities from the valence band when fast ions impact grazingly on Mg(0001), Cu(111), Ag(111) and Au(111) surfaces. In this work it is found that the proper description of the electron-surface interaction, including band-structure effects, gives rise to pronounced shoulders in valence-band electron emission spectra, which are associated with the presence of partially occupied SESs.
