Resumen:
Abstract: In this chapter we analyze the multiple ionization by impact of |Z|=1 projectiles: electrons, positrons, protons andantiprotons. This comparison allows the study the mass and chargeeffects on the ionization processes. To that end we include thetheoretical description given by the continuum distorted waveeikonal initial state, and a detailed compilation of theexperimental data available for particle (proton and electron) andantiparticle (antiproton and positron) multiple ionization of theheaviest rare gases, Ne, Ar, Kr and Xe. The multiple ionizationresults include the Auger-type post-collisional contribution, whichenhance the number of emitted electrons. For heavy projectiles thisis important at high energies. For light projectiles such aselectrons and positrons, the Auger-type processes dominate thehighly-charged ion production in the whole energy range, even closeto the energy threshold. For this reason, the theoreticalcalculation of multiple ionization values requires the gooddescription of the deep-shell contributions.Advertencia sobre el ISBN: 978-1-68108-XXX-X es el que corresponde a la serie de eBooks de Bentham Science.
