Resumen:
We analyze three frontside halo CMEs that occurred in the year 2000, close to the activity maximum of the solar cycle 23. Even thought all three were fast full halos, the geomagnetic response, as measured by different geomagnetic indices, was different for each case. After analyzing their source regions, it was found that the halo associated with the strongest geomagnetic disturbances was the one that initiated farther away from disc center (source region around W60); while the other two CMEs originated closer to central meridian but had lower geomagnetic responses. These observations raise the question of how reliable our forecasts can be by looking only at the solar activity.
