In this paper we give a brief account of the individuals, institutions, and events associated with Einstein´s unpublished opening lecture for his course on Relativity Theory in Argentina (the "inédito"). In addition, we compare it with the text of several lectures given by Einstein in Argentina in which he briefly considered matters related to the philosophy of science. First, the two introductory lectures given soon after his arrival in Buenos Aires, for which the inédito was intended. Later, a lecture given by Einstein at the opening of academic lectures for the year of 1925, delivered at the UBA´s Faculty of Humanities; finally, a lecture given at the National University of Córdoba. In a companion article, "An unpublished lecture by Albert Einstein", we offer an English translation of the inédito. [abridged]
