Inthisworkweevaluatetheproductionofexcitonsofalithiumfuoridecrystalinducedbyprotonimpactintheintermediateandhighenergyregime(from100keVto1MeV).AsimplemodelisproposedtoaccountfortheinfluencoftheCoulombgridofthetargetbydressingcrystalionstotransformtheminwhatwecallonions.Theexcitedstatesoftheseonionscanbeinterpretedasexcitons.Withinthismodel,totalcrosssectionandstoppingpowerarecalculatedbyusingthefrstBornandthecontinuumdistorted-wave(CDW)eikonalinitial-tate(EIS)approximations.Wefoundthatbetween7and30excitonsperincidentprotonareproducedingrazingcollisionswithLiFsurfaces,becomingarelevantmechanismofinelastictransitions.
