Resumen:
Several metabolisms were affected by porphyrinogenic agents, including respiratory chain. The aim was to further investigate the effects on mitochondrial metabolism in a mouse model of Acute Intermittent Porphyria (AIP). Experiments were performed in brain mitochondria of AIP genetic model male mice receiving Isoflurane (2 ml/kg), Sevoflurane (1,5ml/kg), ethanol (30%), allylisopropylacetamide (AIA, 350 mg/kg), Veronal (167 mg/kg) or starved (24 hs). Activity/protein expression of Krebs enzyme cycle (Fumarase, Aconitase, Succinate dehydrogenase), chain respiratory Complex IV (Cytochrome oxidase, Cox) and V (ATPase), mitochondrial Nitric oxide synthase (mtNOS), and other mitochondrial integrity markers were measured. Fumarase activity decreased 30-80% (p
