Resumen:
Stratified flows in hydrostatic balance are studied in both their multilayer and continuous formulations. A novel stability criterium is developed for general systems of mixed type, and applied to the specific case of stratified flows. This criterium extend theclassic results of Miles and Howard concerning steady and planar flows, to the realmof flows that are non-uniform and unsteady.
