Resumen:
Over the last years, bimetallic nanoparticles have become the center of attention due to their fascinating properties and their vast use in a great variety of scientific and industrial applications. This chapter provides a general and conceptual view of the recent experimental as well as theoretical-computational advances on metal electrochemical deposition in nanosystems, related to each other in the synthesis in aqueous solvent and the control of nanoparticles morphology. Special emphasis has been placed on the electrochemical syntheses based on underpotential deposition process and related ones as chemical reduction, co-reduction, galvanic substitution, seed-mediated growth, and a combination of all of them. Debates on this issue include alloyed, dendrites, core@shell, multi-shell and inverse nanoparticles, among others. It is intended to thoroughly analyze the key parameters controlling nucleation and growth, which thus present a strong correlation with the shape and structure of products. These interpretations provide a guide for the design and synthesis of these bimetallic nanomaterials.Aclaración El Editor es el Profesor Fritz Scholz de la University of Greifswald, en Alemania.
