Resumen:
Advances made on Nanoparticles (NP’s) synthesis are accounted for by analyzing their contribution to the understanding of mechanisms of growth. The Ostwald Ripening is analyzed in close relation with solvent polarity. Auspiciously,  a deep insight  into the role of additives  has been gradually but constantly reached. Models proposed to explain the anisotropic growth are analyzed to  assess their successes, flaws and further feasible improvements. A healthy revision of the knowledge on  surface mechanisms, achieved mostly in the electrochemistry area, give shape to both formulation and criticism of growth mechanisms
