Resumen:
Systems in the range between 1-50 nm have an intermediate size between singlemolecules and bulk materials, and that is why they exhibit unique electronic properties, obeying quantum-mechanical rules1, that strongly depend on the particle size and shape,as well as interparticle interactions and protecting agent, if there were some. In thesesmall systems, the outer electrons can tunnel between close particles. Mobile electronsare trapped and collectively oscillate, resulting in a plasmon resonance band. Allquantum effects occur when the de Broglie wavelength of the valence electrons is of theorder of the particle itself.
