Resumen:
Gold nanoparticles synthesizedand stabilized with amoxicillin (amoxi@AuNP)have shown, in our previous experiments, to be bactericidal when irradiatedwith a LED panel. They produced the photothermiceffect at 1.5 μg/mLafter just 30 minutes of irradiation. Amoxi@AuNPcompletelykilled prokaryotic cells, without affecting eukaryotic cells integrity.TEMimages of fixed tissue samples from male Wistarrats administered with amoxi@AuNPshowed that most of them were found in the kidneys. They were also present insmaller amounts inside phagocytic cells in the liver and the spleen, but didnot pass through brain blood barrier. Urine collected along 24 h, indicatesthat they are rapidly eliminated, mainly by renal clearance.
