Resumen:
The hydrodestilled essential oil of aerial parts of Chersodoma argentina Cabrera was investigated by CG-MS and NMR spectroscopy. The analyses showed that the monoterpene hydrocarbon compound dominate in the essential oil from C. argentina. Biological activities of the essential oil were studied by contact and headspace volatile exposure assays. The results obtained demostrate the essential oil of C. argentina used against Sclerotinia sclerotiorum, Sclerotium rolfsii and Rhizoctonia solani had higher antifungal activities in the contact assay that the headspace volatile assay. The essential oil of C. argentina reduced the root growth of Allium porrum, Solanum lycopersicon and Sorghum halepense in both assays.
