Resumen:
Anatomical and chemical properties of Schinopsis haenkeana wood decayed by the fungus Phellinus chaquensis were compared to undecayed one. ---------. Using Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy on a cross section of Schinopsis haenkeana wood associated to basidioma of P. chaquensis, we detected an higher level of oxidized aromatic moieities in the pocket heartwood than on undecayed adjacent sapwood. In conclusion, our results show that P. chaquensis is a fungus that alters the structure of Schinopsis haenkeana wood, being associated to heartwood rich in aromatic compounds (moieities, complexes) such as tannins and lignin
