Resumen:
The surface properties of the binary mixed Langmuir monolayers ofInsulin and DPPC (dipalmitoylphosphatidylcholine) and POCP(palmitoyloleylphosphatidylcholine) spread at the air-waterinterface was studied. Pure and mixed monolayers were spread onZn2+ containing solutions. Miscibility and interactions between thecomponents were studied on the basis of the analysis of thesurface pressure-mean molecular area isotherms, surfacecompressional modulus and plots of mean molecular area andsurface potential versus mole fraction of Insulin. Our resultsindicate that the intermolecular interactions between Insulin andDPPC/POPC depend on both the monolayer state and thestructural characteristics of Insulin at the interface, which isstrongly influenced by the Zn2+ ions in the subphase (1). Brewsterangle microscopy was applied to describe the surface topographyof the monolayers. We concluded that Insulin forms mixed surfaceswith DPPC/POPC at all the mole fraction studied.1 Grasso EJ et al. Colloids and Surfaces B. 2014, 219.
