Resumen:
The wild sunflower Helianthus annuus have naturalized in Argentina and represents a potential reservoir of genetic diversity. The present study attempts to assess the genetics diversity using two different molecular markers and to provide data applicable to wild sunflower conservation. Ten natural populations sampled throughout the wild range in Argentina were studied using ISSR and SSR markers. Molecular differences with cultivated materials and several genetics diversity criteria were utilized to assign conservation value to the populations. Four wild populations were selected for more extensive sampling since they could be a source of novel genes for breeding. This information is useful to define collection and preservation strategies.
