Resumen:
TiO2 is widely used in the removal of contaminants from aqueous media due to its exceptional properties. However, from the technological application point of view, it has 2 important limitations, 1 requires UV light and 2 the separation of the reaction medium is onerous due to the nanometric size of the particles. This work presents a novel alternative for the immobilization of active TiO2 nanoparticles under visible light, specifically TiO2 doped with nitrogen. Once the solid has been synthesized, it is adhered to a suitable support by means of a binder interface such as silicone. The supported material was characterized by scanning electron microscopy. The photocatalytic activity was evaluated in the tartrazine degradation under visible radiation. The solids are immobilized in the support in an interconnected way forming a porous structure, with high catalyst load. The catalyst with the higher concentration of N2 presents better photocatalytic activity with a 97% dye removal percentage after 9 hours of reaction. The reuse cycles show an increase in the photocatalytic activity due to the competitionbetween dye removal and acetic acid (from silicon) produced during the curing process.
