Resumen:
A physicochemical characterization of drug-clay complex was carried out. The adsorption velocity, the relation between pH and adsorption, and shape of the isotherm of the drug (propranolol) in the clay (montmorillonite) were analyzed. Also the desorption of the drug in simulated physiological media (simulated gastric fluid, pH 1,2; simulated intestinal fluid, pH 6,8) was performed. Results showed high affinity between the drug and the clay, and that the adsorption is principally by cationic exchange. This system is not too appropriated for the administration of the drug by oral way, but can show goods results in topics applications.
