Resumen:
The aim of this work was to evaluate the performance, as permeate flow and rejection, of a commercial nanofiltration membrane with glucose-maltose mixtures, studying the different phenomena that appear. Assays were performed with a nanofiltration commercial membrane GE Desal DL and four mixtures of glucose (G)/ maltose (M) in different ratios, pH 4, were filtered at, 50 °C and different pressures (from 3 bar to 30 bar). A small scale filtering equipment was used, with total recirculation of permeate and retentate. Permeate flux and sugars concentration in the feed and permeate were measured. The analyses were performed using refractometer and HPLC columns. The observed rejection was determined for each sugar and the influence of the glucose/maltose ratio in the glucose rejection was studied. The studied membrane had a high observed rejection for both sugars. There are factors that affect the permeate flux, as the osmotic pressure and concentration polarization. Observed rejection of glucose varied with the glucose/maltose ratio and with the concentration in the feed.
