Resumen:
In 2016 Argentina faced the largest dengue epidemic in its history. In this talk I will present some features of the epidemic in northwest Argentina. After two months of almost constant incidence the epidemic accelerated at the end of the summer. Our field studies show a widespread distribution of aedes aegipty in different ecological regions where dengue outbreaks took place. However similar cities with similar environmental conditions showed quite different epidemics. Possible determinants for these differences are discussed. Recommendations about epidemiological management, vector control and diagnosis are discussed in the framework of the regional situation.
