Resumen:
The potentialities of the Digital Holographic Microscopy for the detection of livingmicroorganisms in blood samples are researched in this work. A thin layer of fresh blood infectedby the protozoan Trypanosoma cruzi is subjected to analysis in order to detect the presence of theparasites in a microscopic vision field. The proposed technique is based on the measurement ofphase distributions corresponding to temporal differentiation in sequences of digital holograms ofthe same vision field. The presence of parasites is detected from characteristic pattern of the movingparasites observed in the amplitude and phase differences. A comparison of different methods ofnumerical reconstruction, and a discussion about the optimal temporal lag between holograms arepresented. The purpose of the work is to optimize an automated opto-mechanical system aimed atChagas disease diagnostic.
