Resumen:
In this work, a new vehicle for goat probiotics, from sugarcane residues was designed. Different probiotic microorganisms were assayed in order to evaluate their effect on bacterial populations of gastro-intestinal-tract (GIT). Feces represent an important tool for studying the dominant microflora in the GIT. We evaluated five different treatments during three consecutive periods (ingest-repose), which have started immediately after weaning. After third ingest period of seven days each, the results indicated that a combination of Lactobacillus reuteri DDL19, Lactobacillus alimentarius DDL 48, Enterococcus faecium DDE 39 and Bifidobacterium bifidum DDBA , was able to diminish coliforms and enhance at least one logarithmic unit beneficial Bifidobacterium and the lactic acid bacteria respect to the control. Further, the incidence of diarrhea in this experimental group was lower than the control group. The sugarcane residual has been ingested, as supplement food, without problem by goats. The importance of our results is supported by the design of alternative foods for animal use during dry season, characterized by deficient and bad pastures. Precisely the dry season in Northwest Argentine is coinciding with the sugarcane harvest.
