Resumen:
Lactobacillus(L.) delbrueckii subsp. bulgaricus CRL871 isolated from artisanal yogurt in the northwestern of Argentina, showed the ability to synthetize folate from de novo in folate free culture medium and in milk. This is thefirst strain of L. bulgaricusreported as a folate producing strain. L.bulgaricus CRL871 was used to develop a yogurt naturally bio-enriched infolate. Here we report the draft genome sequence of L. bulgaricus CRL871. The strain is of great biotechnologicalimportance in dairy industry as a viable, useful and economic alternative tofolic acid fortification.
