Resumen:
Some strains of Lactobacillus (Lb.) reuteri are able to produce cobalamin (vitamin B12). Cobalamin 32 biosynthesis relies on the sequential action of more than 25 enzymes, in a very complex metabolic pathway. In this 33 work we present the cloning, expression and preliminary characterization of the gene that codes for the S-Adenosyl34 methionine  Uroprophyrinogen III methyltransferase/synthase (CobA/HemD) in Lb. reuteri CRL1098, a key 35 bifunctional enzyme in the biosynthesis of cobalamin and other tetrapyrrols in some microorganisms
