Abstract
The stillage produced by ethanol distilleries attached to sugar mills in Northwestern Argentina produce polluted watersheds with a problem of major dimensions if they are improperly discharged. Effluents from this type grow at the same time the demand for bioethanol in Argentina and the world.UASB reactors are an integral option in the regeneration of waste waters, since the generation of biogas for the methanogenic prokaryotes developed in these systems is an additional value to the decontamination of effluents with high organic load.
