Resumen:
Paspalum minus is a polyploid species of the group Notata with a pentaploid cytotype (5n=50). It has forage potential and reproduces through diplosporous and aposporous apomixis with pseudogamy. Based on phylogenetic and meiotic-behavior studies, P. minus was hypothesized to be an allopolyploid, included within the core Notata. The conserved ortholog set of nuclear markers are single or low copy in both genomes at diploid level and their sequences remained relatively stable evolutionary. To elucidate phylogenetic relationships among 26 accessions belonging to 17 species from the Notata and sister groups, we sequenced the low copy nuclear gene, AroB. Sequences were processed by Geneious Prime and maximum likelihood trees were obtained using MEGAX software. Sequences of AroB gene indicate the presence of 4 and 5 alleles in P. minus accessions(R1180 & V15484). Analyses started with a data matrix containing only diploid species, upon which the polyploids were added one by one to establish the relationships among the species. Our results suggest, with a high bootstrap support (98%), that P. pumilum and P. notatum(2x) are putative diploid species involved in the origin of P. minus, and P. subciliatum (3x) is another putative donor of one genome.
