Resumen:
A lectotype is designated here for Cocos poni, a species first proposed by Hauman in Las Palmeras de la Flora Argentina and currently treated as a synonym of Butia yatay or B. paraguayensis. Collections were made in the locality designated by Hauman based on his photos and description, and an epitype for this species is also designated here. Butia poni is recognized as a distinct species. This paper includes a description, photos, relationships, geographic distribution, and conservation assessment for Butia poni
