Resumen:
In the presence of a selective solvent for one of the blocks, a block copolymer (BC) tends to self-assemble into a variety of micellar morphologies, such as spheres, cylinders, vesicles and other more complex shapes. Under these conditions, the soluble block will be oriented towards the continuous solvent and will form the shell of the micelle, while the insoluble part will form the core of the structure. The original concept of self-assembly of BC in non-reactive organic solvents can be extended for the preparation of nanostructured polymeric materials. In this case, the precursors of the polymeric matrix act as selective solvents of the BC resulting in the formation of micellar nanostructures before or during the curing reaction of the matrix. If the Tg of the matrix is below the melting point (Tm) of the core-forming block, micellar elongation commonly occurs promoted by crystallization of the core, whereas if the Tg of the matrix is above the Tm, the crystallization of the core occurs in a confined fashion and the micellar elongation is prevented. The objective of this work is to modulate the morphology of the micelles, regulating their length by changing the Tg of the matrix.
