Resumen:
Epoxy resins are the most common polymeric coatings that inhibited the process of metal corrosion due to its good chemical resistance, high tensile strength and modulus, high adhesion and dimensional stability. Unfortunately, most of the monomers available today to prepare epoxy resins such as bisphenols are derived from petroleum sources, accounting for about 7% of worldwide oil and gas consumption [1]. The negative impact of biphenols on human health and on environment, have recently banned the use of bisphenols in food contact materials. This situation has encouraged the development of bio-based precursors to replace petroleum based ones. Among the renewable molecules of the chemical platform, naturally occurring long - chain fatty acids are a valuable and worldwide accessible bioresource that can provide alternatives for the chemical industry.
