Resumen:
Vegetable oils are considered among the most promising renewable raw materials for polymer production, owing to their immediate availability and relatively low cost. Moreover, polymer nanocomposites are a new class of materials wherein at least one of the constituents has nanometer dimensions, such as, for example, polymers with dispersed nanoparticles (NPs). Magnetite is one of the most studied magnetic systems, which can be produced and controlled with relative facility. However, the relation between the magnetite nanoparticles (MNPs) concentration and the final magnetic properties of the nanocomposites is still unclear. We incorporated MNPs into a vegetable oil based polymer crosslinked by means of cationic polymerization to obtain novel magnetic nanocomposites. We studied the effect of MNPs concentration on the magnetic properties of novel vegetable based nanocomposites. The magnetic behavior was significantly affected by the variation of the concentration of the MNPs.
